My hammie lives in a zoozone two with mesh over the top bars. Naff for cavys, but it's a pretty good home for one rather cranky old hamster
I would have made her a bin, but I had it anyway, and she gets even more space like this.

As another point, standard sized hamster wheels are not good for your hamster's back. They really need one that's at least 8" - the size most petstores sell for rats.
