Re: It takes two to tango..

Okay, what should I expect when getting Malaika a friend?
I have a lot of questions, but I can't think of them all right now

What cage size do I need for two females?

2x3 C&C size min, more is better since they are not closely bonded, but I had to scale back my 2X4 to a 2X3 and my girls did fine dispite the new relationship.

Will I need a second water bottle and/or hay feeder?

It is advisable, however I only have one at the moment, and they share nicely. Boots gaurded it for a few days, but would rather snuggle right now then make war.

My guinea pig is very timid and jumpy, and doesn't trust people easily - what kind of temperament should her friend have in order for them to get along?

How they react to humans does not really demonstrate how they will react to their own kind. When making enquiries, try and look for a pig known to be friendly. I did not know what Barbie was like when I got her, and things worked out really well. It isn't as important with sows as it is with boars, provided they have enough room. Some sows fight, but most work it out provided intros are done properly and all. One thing I would suggest is changing up the cage when you finnaly introduce the new one.
