| Re: 6 Guinea Pigs in Louisiana Shelter It depends on the circomstances of the rescue. If all I have in my home are my 3 girls and Hazel, Babette and any babies and none of them have been introduced to outside animals, and they are healthy a full quarentine can be avoided. But if it's a regular rescue/shelter where animals are coming and going and disease could be spread then a quarentine is necessary.
Such as, If you were to take Babette now a full Q would be in order. If the other adoption doesn't work out and you take Babette at Christmas...and she is with me that whole time with no other Foster Pigs coming in the home them no Q is necessarily needed.
When I adopted Lil Ly from Ly I was able to avoid a Q myself. All of Ly's pigs were healthy and no outside animals were introduced either in Ly's home or during transport. Therefore after a few days alone to get used to the sights, smells and look of my home and of my other GPs across the bars Lil Ly was able to go right in with them. |
