I don't know if guinea pigs need to sleep with their eyes closed but they will only do it when completely relaxed and safe. Usually tucked away in a house. Most prey animals have a sort of half asleep state where they can still get rest when in a less than completely safe situation. Most also need to sleep completely at least every few days. Such as some animals sleeping standing up. They can't sleep standing up for weeks on end without getting stressed but they don't lay down every night either. |
